About Us
Picture. Lets see what comes from this...

Who are we?

Aussie Opal Market is a family owned business run by James and Jane Brown.
We are the sole marketing arm for the company Opaltek and have the patented Opaltek Automated Noodler.
Using this technology we offer full traceability of our quality Australian Opal to you, the customer.

World Leading Automated Opal Detection Technology.

We are the leaders in the field of Automated Opal Detection.
We have invested over six years in this project developing the advanced electronic detection capabilities to make this machine a reality.
This technology utilises the opals ability to flouresce under ultra-violet light.
Watch the video below to see how Opal "glows" under U/V light. It is quite amazing.
This is not new information, miners have been using U/V lights for nearly 3 decades.
What is new is the way we have combined this with our patented automated noodling machine.

Opal Valley Operation 2008
Click on the image to see a larger one of our mining operation at Opal Valley, South of Coober Pedy, South Australia.

Currently we are based at the 14 mile field near Coober Pedy, South Australia.
This field is renowned for some of the most stable material available.
Most of our jewellery has been made using material from the Opal Valley, 14 and 23 mile fields.
These fields are some of the premiere Gem quality producing fields in the Coober Pedy area.
We stand by our product and welcome any questions or queries you may have.
Thankyou for taking the time to visit our site and we hope you enjoy our opal as much as we do.

Watch a video of our sorting dark room based on the principals of a traditional Opal noodling machine.
This video was taken by Lynette Brown in August this year.

Late last year we were fortunate to be visited by a crew from the Canadian Discovery Channel.
Below is a link to some of the behind the scenes photos.
Keep your eye on the TV and you might see us!
